SOFFITTA MACABRA, titolo allusivo ad una delle più enigmatiche correnti di arte di retro-avanguardia del '900, è il primo prodotto originale, inatteso in origine, dell’attuale formazione di Malombra.
Chiunque abbia apprezzato in passato la particolare alchimia di generi e stili che hanno prodotto il “suono Malombra”, vi ritroverà atmosfere antiche. Ideali per accompagnare un excursus onirico tra avanguardie stravaganti, pensatori estremi, incubi e ossessioni tornate a imperversare lungo la scia di vecchi e nuovi nichilismi.
Potrebbe rivelarsi il titolo più notturno e desolato mai uscito a nome Malombra. E, per coerenza con queste premesse si è scelto di lavorare come all’origine.
Niente metronomi qui, né autotune, né miracolosi balocchi digitali. Solo brutali panoramiche in ripresa diretta: i tempi orribili che viviamo ben motivano una postura austera. Un’istantanea che il gruppo ha scelto da scattarsi senza filtri. Con lo sfondo d’uno scenario plumbeo che esso si è riscoperto versato a narrare.

SOFFITTA MACABRA takes its evocative title from one of the most enigmatic currents in twentieth-century retro-avant-garde art. It is the first original work by Malombra’s current line-up — an outcome that was not anticipated when this incarnation of the band first took shape.
Those who have long appreciated the singular alchemy of genres and styles that gave rise to the Malombra sound will recognise echoes of bygone worlds. The album provides an ideal soundtrack for a journey through a dark and unsettling dreamscape of eccentric avant-gardes, radical thinkers, nightmares and obsessions that have once again begun to haunt us in the wake of old and new forms of nihilism.
This may well be the most nocturnal and desolate release ever to bear the Malombra name. In keeping with this vision, the band chose to return to its roots in the very process of recording the album.

No metronomes, no autotune, no miraculous digital toys. Just raw, unvarnished live recordings. The bleak times we live in call for an appropriately austere approach: an unfiltered snapshot of the band itself, set against the leaden backdrop of a landscape it has rediscovered its own vocation for portraying.
