BWR134 ORNE - The Tree of Life Lp / Cd

Second album from this Reverend Bizarre offshoot. Orne is led by Kimi Karki, who besides writing all the music and lyrics is responsible for the guitar and Mellotron. You like Mellotron? Oh...this one has lots of it. You like Hammond organ? Oh...this one has lots of it. Guitar takes a back seat on this album, mostly providing textures and rhythms. Instead we get a keyboard driven album with some embellishments of flute. The tone of the album is dark and ominious - as if HP Lovecraft was looking over Karki's shoulder, whispering lyrics into his ear. Mellotron sounds like Mike Pinder and the organ has a Julian Jay Savarin meets Richard Wright thing going on. Not a lot of flashy chops but definitely intense and with a pervasive early 70s British sound. Bands like Black Widow, Pink Floyd, and even VDGG come to mind. Consider this a warning: don't play this one at midnight or you may get a visit from Nyarlathotep.
Then...do not miss it!! (review taken from LASER’S EDGE web site)
