BWR 234 BALLETTO DI BRONZO - The Official Bootleg 2LP / CD

Perché "Official Bootleg"? Come può, un bootleg - ovvero, la registrazione di uno spettacolo o di un concerto fatta abusivamente, senza autorizzazione -, essere "ufficiale"? Sembrerebbe un perfetto ossimoro. Beh, se è l'artista stesso a volerlo, è possibile! E' proprio quello che abbiamo deciso di fare. Oramai da anni assistevamo impotenti alla pubblicazione - specie all'estero - di nostri concerti senza essere minimamente interpellati, senza poter nemmeno valutare la qualità dell'opera e men che meno poterci opporre. Per non parlare degli introiti, che sono regolarmente andati a chissà chi e chissà dove, non certo a noi. Io mi sono sempre rifiutato persino di ascoltarli per evitarmi sofferenze e feroci arrabbiature. Allora abbiamo deciso di farlo noi, il Bootleg, utilizzando la registrazione di una parte di un nostro concerto di oltre due ore e mezza avvenuto il 31 maggio del 2018 in un locale di Roma, L'Asino che Vola. Ma si badi bene: non è un "live del Balletto di Bronzo", altrimenti sarebbe stato concepito e realizzato in ben altro modo, e fin dall'inizio! Infatti non abbiamo apportato la minima modifica o correzione: tutto è molto vero, diretto, quasi "rubato": quella sera non avevamo nemmeno intenzione di registrare... E pazienza se magari ci può essere qualche imperfezione: in compenso su quel palco c'erano tanta energia, tanta passione e tanto sudore. Abbiamo deciso di utilizzare per questo progetto solo i brani "storici" - fatta eccezione per "Diaframma", tratto dal mio repertorio solistico - e di destinare gli altri brani del nostro repertorio, insieme ad alcuni inediti, al CD in studio di prossima realizzazione. Questo "Official Bootleg" rende omaggio alla formazione attuale - che considero la migliore fra tutte finora - composta, oltre che da me, da Riccardo Spilli alla batteria e da Ivano Salvatori al basso.

Why “Official Bootleg”? How can a bootleg, or rather, the recording of a performance or a concert made illegally, without authorization, be “official”? It would appear to be a perfect oxymoron. Well, it is possible if it is the artist himself who wants to do it. That is precisely what we have decided to do. For years we have been powerless to assist in the publication of our work, especially abroad, without being consulted in any way, nor have we been able to evaluate the quality of the work and let alone oppose it. Not to mention receiving any payment for the sale of these bootlegs, which has gone to who knows who and who knows where, certainly we have not earned anything. I have always refused to even listen to them in order to avoid suffering and getting angry. We have now decided to produce, the Bootleg, using the recording of our concert on 31 May, 2018 at L'Asino che Vola in Rome. Mind you: it is not “Balletto di Bronzo live”, otherwise it would have been conceived and carried out in a very different way and from the onset. In fact,we have not made any changes or corrections: everything is very real as that evening we had no intention of recording the concert... Never mind if perhaps there are some imperfections: on the other hand, there was a great deal of energy, passion and perspiration on that stage. This “Official Bootleg” pays tribute to the actual line-up, which I consider to be the best of all of them so far, comprising, besides myself, of Riccardo Spilli on drums and Ivano Salvatori on bass. This was our second performance together.
