Perché questo album non si chiama Fistful of Planets 3? Dopotutto, è pur sempre un'opera solista di Elisa Montaldo. Ci sono persino alcuni brani riutilizzati da Fistful of Planets 1 e 2..
Beh, il titolo di questo quarto album, "Looking Back Moving Forward", fornisce la chiave di questo enigma: guardare indietro, andare avanti.
Dietro di loro ci sono Fistful of Planets 1 (2015) e Fistful of Planets 2 (2021), ma anche, naturalmente, Dévoiler (2020). Tre album in dieci anni, un decennio, un ciclo completo in un certo senso. Ma soprattutto, un periodo durante il quale Elisa, l'artista ma anche la donna, ha progredito nel suo percorso di vita.
Dieci anni dopo Fistful of Planets 1, ha sentito che era giunto il momento di andare avanti. Naturalmente, questo passo cruciale non è avvenuto dall'oggi al domani. Dubbi, esitazioni, a volte persino una perdita di orientamento, fanno parte di un percorso naturale per raggiungere una serenità perduta, forse persino sconosciuta, e per percepire finalmente con chiarezza la luce di una nuova alba.
Questo nuovo giorno è arrivato.
Poi arriva la decodificazione. Perché Elisa procede sempre a modo suo, con tocchi sottili. Queste quattordici vignette musicali sono come marcatori emozionali che, una volta ascoltati e riascoltati, rappresentano uno specchio sfaccettato. Ci si può muovere, cambiare l'angolo di percezione e quindi discernere onde fluttuanti e riflessi mutevoli. Questa è un'impressione inquietante spinta all'estremo con le sei episodi strumentali che formano la suite "The Dreamcore Bubble".
Quindi, lo so, mi direte che non parlo molto di musica in questa recensione. Pensatec: La musica è fatta di emozioni, sensazioni, vibrazioni. Sta a voi scoprire questo album, che risuonerà con la vostra sensibilità. Questo è sicuramente il motivo per cui sono così personalmente commosso da "You're with me" e "All di là delle idee".
Ma poiché mi sento generoso, vi suggerisco di concentrarci su due brani eccezionali che dovreste ascoltare per primi. Innanzitutto, il magnifico mottetto profano "Alone or not", una vera e propria cattedrale vocale formata dalla voce commovente di Elisa, unita ai cori di Francesco Ciapica, registrati su ben sedici tracce per un risultato semplicemente splendido. Poi è arrivato il brano "Looking back – Moving Forward", con il duo Elisa Montaldo – Barbara Rubin (e con Francesco Ciapica ancora una volta presente) all'apice di ciò che si può fare in termini di sensibilità.
Spero di avervi fatto venire voglia di acquistare e ascoltare questo album, quindi non perdete l'occasione che Elisa vi offre.

Why isn't this album called Fistful of Planets 3? After all, it's still Elisa Montaldo solo. There are even some themes reprised from Fistful of Planets 1 and 2, so there you have it!
Well, the title of this fourth album, "Looking Back Moving Forward," provides the key to this enigma: looking back, moving forward.
Behind it all, there are Fistful of Planets 1 (2015) and Fistful of Planets 2 (2021), but also, of course, Dévoiler (2020). Three albums in ten years, a decade, a complete cycle in a way. But above all, a period during which Elisa, the artist but also the woman, has progressed on her own life journey.
Ten years after Fistful of Planets 1, she felt it was time to move forward. Of course, this crucial step wasn't decided in a single moment. Doubt, hesitation, sometimes even a loss of bearings, are all part of a natural journey to reach a lost, perhaps even unknown, serenity, and to finally perceive clearly the light of a new dawn. That new day has arrived.
Next, you have to decode it. Because Elisa always works in her own very personal way, with subtle touches. These fourteen musical vignettes are like emotional markers which, once listened to and re-listened to, represent a multifaceted mirror. You can move around, change your angle of perception, and thus discern fluctuating waves and shifting reflections. This is a disturbing impression pushed to its extreme with the six instrumental capsules that make up the suite "The Dreamcore Bubble."
So, I know, you're going to tell me I don't talk much about music in this review. Think again. Music is about emotions, sensations, vibrations. It's up to you to discover this album, which will resonate with your own sensibilities. This is surely why I'm so personally moved by "You're with me" and "Al di là delle idee."
But since I'm feeling generous, I suggest we focus on two exceptional pieces that you should listen to first. First, the magnificent secular motet "Alone or not," a veritable vocal cathedral formed by Elisa's moving voice, joined by the choirs provided by Francesco Ciapica, recorded on no fewer than sixteen tracks for a result that is simply gorgeous. Then came the song "Looking back – Moving Forward" with the duo Elisa Montaldo – Barbara Rubin (and with Francesco Ciapica once again joining in) at the pinnacle of what can be done in terms of sensitivity.
